Otherwise known as my favorite game of all time.
Basically, it's a rhythm game where you play as a cheer squad (Who you play as depends on your difficulty level) who motivates troubled people of Yuuhi town in their goals. This can range from normal (Passing exam, finding love...) to sad (Helping a girl fulfill the dreams of her now-dead sister) to downright obscure. (Toy monkey going home to its owner, building a giant robot to defeat a giant cat...)
This time around, however, a rivalry breaks out between them and the richer, more dignified cheer squad of Asahi town. You constantly switch between helping out people of both towns to a usually fitting song, eventually leading to a world-destroying natural disaster that will require both teams' ability to stop.
As for gameplay, you tap circles and "sliders" (Self-explanatory) to the rhythm of the song. Each circle has an outer ring that slowly gets closer to the circle. When the ring reaches the circle, you tap, which goes with the music. If you don't have rhythm, you probably won't make it far, though. While it may start out fairly laid-back and casual, it gets insane at later difficulties. Then you unlock the hidden mode, which kicks the hardest difficulty up another notch....
Trust me, it's a LOT more fun than it sounds! Ouendan 1 is not as great as its sequel in my opinion, but fun nonetheless. Then you have the American version, Elite Beat Agents, which is basically the same game with American music.
Actions might speak louder than words, so take a look at this video to see more about it:
/Game rant
