Sorry to start another thread today but I think this is worth it. Well I was playing Love Plus + (not knowing a drop of Japanese ) and I got annoyed re-doing 70+ days. So I took a save state of my translated Love Plus game and renamed it to match the Love Plus + game save state name. If you're getting confused: basically I tried to load a save state from Love Plus into Love Plus +. I posted a video showing the results: youtu.be/m-HCRtwSgboThe results: Love Plus + accepted the save state and allowed me to play it before it crashed... I am assuming the patched save state (from Love Plus) is causing some sort of issue (duh on my part...). I forget where I read it but apparently Love Plus (a real copy of it) is a different type of cart. than Love Plus + (uncited). The only reason I tried it was because you can apparently import stuff from Love Plus to Love Plus +.

Actually, I tried it too a couple years ago. Mine didn't even load though, and my save wasn't pached. I had to buy a second flascard to do the data transfer.

Have you tried doing it on an emulator? granted some people prefer an actual DS to play it on but testing save states and stuff like that is a lot easier with a mouse and keyboard

I don't like emulators.
I bought the original game card a few months later so I don't mess with save files anymore.

How do you play Love Plus without patching it? unless you bought a flash cart.
I tried playing Love Plus + and it is ok but not sound ignorant but I really don't enjoy it as much when I can't understand what is going on...
Emulators are fine for me. I have a DS but I am not going to spend a fortune on getting a Japanese Nintendo DS just to play one game. Emulators are region free and in my opinion far better than the real thing.

As I said before, I've always played the games in japanese, the LP english patch didn't even existed when I started playing. It was difficult at first, but jewelchan's guide was a great help. Besides it has been a great motivation to learn the language, I learned english the same way. NDS games are not region locked. You can play LP and LP+ on an american NDS just fine.

na00: personally would you recommend I try to play Love Plus + as it is? I would like to learn Japanese but would the game alone be sufficient? or should I be taking or course or what?... EDIT: just to be clear I do want to learn Japanese

I've learned a lot on my own, but taking classes would be great if you have the time and the money. Here in Mexico Japanese classes are very expensive and the books are hard to get.

What I find strange is if the Nintendo DS is region free than why is it that the Wii isn't? usually consoles are region locked.

Nintendo's protable consoles were never Region Locked...
Until the DSi, which was Region Locked for DSiWare, and the 3DS, which is fully locked.
