Constant crashing, help D:

The game is crashing, no matter what I do, at any type of dream or date event it crashes. I have delayed the dates, tried both real and skip time, always crashes, always in the middle of dialogue. It is in the middle of familiar text, I've seen it before, so I doubt it is the dialog files.

I'm at wits end with this simulator, I really want to play it, but now I cannot even go on a date.

It just crashed in a non-date dialog, before a library meeting.

Can anyone confirm if a write is conducted to the save at certain points without user request?

I found some errors on the memory card, seems somehow, multiple save files were written with exactly the same name.

Could be a bad SD card.

Iirc you are playing the english patch, so I would suggest you make a backup of your save data and reformat your SD card. After that copy the ROM and save files back to the SD card and try again.

I checked the card, it is also a new sandisk. (Although I know even new cards are known to have flaws)

Seems, with the rom and save in another directory, it works, for the time being. Chkdsk /f brought up a few errors, all duplicate files of the same name, the save. Thankfully I backed it up and lost only half a day.

I most likely will end up reformatting and doing a complete r/w test over all space on the card.

did you at any time switch on any of the cheats?(doesn't matter if you switched them back, if you switched them on even once they probably messed up your game)

i can confirm that in the English patch there is a dialogue after kissing sequence especially during dates that crashes the game..it happened to me a lot too, always the same dialogue and you wouldn't get a dialogue box to click and move forward(girl would still move and wait)..

I havent used any cheats. It has occurred in several dialogues, one was on the beach talking about crows, which I have seen quite a few times already, another was when walking home, another in the library for a kiss.

SEEMS its fixed.

I may have caused this by using moonshell to copy save files, it can not overwrite. Or, the game had an issue with the save files.

Backing up the save files in wood, ie, copying to slot 1-3 DOES work and doesnt interfere with the game at all.

There are only two points where the game saves, as far as I know. It saves when you press the save button, and it autosaves when you enter the saved game. (The second one just saves the fact that you entered the game as a countermeasure for "save scumming". It doesn't save anything related to the actual game.)

Sounds like either your microSD is just very strange, or, as you said, MoonShell was the culprit. I'll mess around with it when I get my DS back. Glad you fixed the problem, though.

(BTW sometimes the way i hold my DS Lite crashes the games cause my finger is putting pressure to the game card and the game freezes, another thing to be wary about as it happens a lot and might be one of the reasons)

Seems it was the save. I am also very careful to not touch the card when it is in use. I haven't had a crash since.

Ah, I know how it feels...

The connection of the card with my DS was loose sometimes, so I tried my best to not touch it while playing.
