it feels like konami and nintendo are both on vacations these past (few) month(s),lol.. they barely leave any posts at their twitter page and like you said it's almost the end of August and we still haven't heard any announcements about the dates of the next two game patches.. i hope they're worth it thought, like not only correcting the bad stuff but possibly adding something new, fresh and cool to the game, that would really make up for all the bitter-sweet taste the game has left in our mouths after the fails and facepalms we've experienced,lol..

Honestly, I find the 3DSLL completely unnecessary. The DSiXL actually had a purpose. The screens were just too tiny in some instances. However, the 3DS's screen is large enough to see everything at all times. This 3DSLL is NOT portable in my eyes. Judging from the pictures, I wouldn't even be able to fit this thing in my pocket! If they wanted to make something like this, they could have taken the "Gameboy Player" route and made a system like the Wii U play it. To be fair, it would take longer, but this seems more like money grubbing than anything.

I think 3DSXL is pretty much an "obligatory" upgrade for the 3ds, like they did with DSiXL. The good news they addressing the battery problem even thought it still far from ideal, the bad news is LPP still buggy the size is doesnt matter with me, i don`t care if it isn`t pocketable, i can still store it in my waist pocket, backpack, anything, the selling point is the bigger screen, as rplus said, the screen now is better and (almost) reaching human eye view, so it`s easy to look at. The only reason i take a 3ds out is to play LPP on the go, i know the risk (3ds + power grip is like having hot dogs stuffed on your pants, cumbersome and not pretty sight at all) and willing to take the risk because the reward is bigger (i wont bored to death when on the 9 hours travel with train) Of course 3DSXL with power grip or any extended battery wont be pocketable at all, but IF the upcoming update to the LPP is really make the game better, then i will buy 3DSXL without second thought and no, the size doesnt matter I think with the release of the 3DSXL will mark the beginning of the END of the 3ds.. there is no more news about 3DS advancement, no "upgraded" 3DS, the spec is same, it isn`t like the DS that evolutioning itself to be DS Lite, DSi then DSiXL. On the other hand 3DS=>3DSXL, just a screen and battery update, nothing else.. Maybe nintendo now has its hand tied to create the 3ds replacement (not Wii U) so they begin to abandoned 3DS, remember that 3DS (or PS VITA for this matter) has a mammoth challenge on the handheld game machine, that is smartphone (Android, iOS, Windows Phone), with it`s thriving market full of cheap (read: sub 10 dollar) game (and that`s many of it are free), so nintendo have one hell of challenge it must face.. For us? i always dreaming to play LPP on my android phone

i would like to make something clear though, 3DS and 3DSLL are the exact same device and work under the exact same interface operating system, the only changes between the devices are the luxuries(bigger screens, bigger battery) and aesthetic corrections (fingerprint-proof and no oily surfaces, locks in laptop position so no more the need for a stand, upper screen/lid is no longer that distracting mirroring glassy thing,3D effect no longer produces a ghost reflection since the screen is now big enough to fit the human optical field) but other than that 3DS and 3DSLL are one device/the same...
neneichiban i'm also exited for the next NLP updates~!
i think DSiXL can be categorized just as unnecessary to be honest, i mean the graphics back then were so pixely and didn't read well at all once you blast them in those gigantic sized screens, atleast with 3DSLL you get some great crystal clear high definition graphics with some of the newer games that come out..

I wonder how Love Plus+ would look if you play it on a 3DS XL. I bet it would look really pixelated.

Estrex, did you at least glance at the first post of this topic? It's full of pictures showing this isn't that pixellated. I do own a 3DS XL as well, and games really look neat on them!

Still being in Japan I couldn't resist buying a LL… and boy NLP looks really gorgeous on those big screens Compared to the prices of the XL in Germany (179,- EUR) and the import variant (~25.000¥ ) the LL is really cheap here with 17.900¥ (~155,- EUR) after tax refund.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but don't the XL models (DS and 3DS) literally stretch the picture? Last I checked that is going to cause pixelation (woot for unreal words!) of some sort.

Bought one too when I was there in Japan; been wanting to upgrade from the normal 3DS for quite a while now And it's waaaaay cheaper too than buying one in my home country. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but don't the XL models (DS and 3DS) literally stretch the picture? Last I checked that is going to cause pixelation (woot for unreal words!) of some sort. Yes the XL models upscale the picture but most games (at least for me) actually looks much better/clearer and you will barely notice any pixelation.

From my impression the upscaling works almost like on your usual computer display. If you raise the resolution in games, especially the older ones, the overall 3D (vectors) becomes sharper, 2D graphics like textures on the other hand begin to become blurry.
In NLP this is very noticable with the photos you can take. They are saved at the lower game resolution and look much more blurry than the actual 3D scene.

Not really good..the measurements of the 3DS/3DSLL screens are different from the Nds so the older games might show some black borders left and right..in 3DLL the older games become more pixely (not worst than Dsi i assume) and the sound comes off a bit boxed since the new consoles have better sound systems...it's not that bad but there are issues..

I play a range of ds/i games on my 3ds so am used to "letterboxing". I am just in the market for a Japanese 3ds and wondering what I should get. As it stands I already carry the 3ds in a protective hard case and a tablet (7" Nexus), so the size isn't really an issue. I am pretty much buying it just because of NLP.
